Northwestern Phoenix Moth

Eulithis xylina

Description:

A fairly large moth with a wingspan approximately 3.2-3.7 cm. There is a prominent black wedge below white apical dash and two-three small black teeth above the base of dash. It has a broad median band which is dark red-brown to almost black.

Habitat:

Western North America. Occurs in deciduous and mixed wood woodlands

Notes:

This moth never stays still for long so I was pleased to get this photograph.
