Pandorus Sphinx

Eumorpha pandorus

Description:

Pale green forward wing has complex pattern of darker green patches and pink veins extending through inner ST area. Thorax is pale green with dark tegulae. Hodges #7859 Host plants are Grape, Ampelopsis, Virginia creeper.

Habitat:

Rich misic woods

Notes:

My favorite sphinx. I've only ever seen this moth once before here, and it was years ago. This moth was fresh, newly eclosed and had chosen a daylily to dry his wings on. After my photo shoot, I moved it to the 'cathouse' and released it at dusk.
