Green Rosella

Platycercus caledonicus

Description:

I think the greener one on the left is a juvenile and the one on the right is a female adult but then these were my first ones to see so I could be wrong.

Habitat:

Feeding in the bushes along the shoreline at Binnalong Bay, north of St Helen's, Tasmania. Photo 2 shows the seeds they were eating. I am not sure what plant this is they are feeding on.

Notes:

Lifer!

Yes, this is one of the Tassie endemics that I did manage to see. There are lots of them on Bruny Island, where we stayed one night. I totally recommend it but forlonger than one night!

They're beautiful! I have never seen these... I just checked my bird book and they only occur in Tassie.
