Description:

Family: Araneidae (orb weaver) Male and female shown. Male length: 5-9 mm. Female length: 19-28 mm. Common meadow spider. Female has black and yellow "mask" on abdomen. White and red legswith black stripes. Male is more plain reddish/brown. Harmless to humans. Non-aggressive. Large circular webs with "writing". Also known as the Writing spider or corn spider.
