Oak Eggar

Lasiocampa quercus

Description:

The wingspan is 45–75 mm. The females are larger than the males. The moth flies from May to September depending on the location. Their hairs can cause a violent itching skin allergy in some people. The larvae feed on Larix, Betula, Salix and Rubus species.

Habitat:

The Oak Eggar (Lasiocampa quercus) is a moth of the family Lasiocampidae. It is found in Europe and the British Isles.

snakes i only spott one :-) i pick her in my hands but in the spott those phhotos dont show up because they where fozy :-) it was a super little non venon water snake :-) nothing compared to the beautiful " monsters" you people haved in USA :-)

That way you could prevent so many road kills too.

Thanks Jemma,now i can hold any animal,even snakes,i think i wouls haved the courage,insects is easy now,snails ok, slkuggs are to mosty,but i pick several to save them from the feet kills :-) in my yard,they are so many that in the nigth is dificult to not put a foot on one.after seeing Lisa and Karen picking everything that oves without any major problem,i'am now more confident on touching certain animals :-)

lovely! I found a carpenter bee which was newly eclosed and it was the exact same color!
I would love to hold a moth.
I have gathered up all my courage and now i lift of snails that are crossing roads ,before they become road kill.

Thanks Argy,it was the first time i make this :-) you know me,normaly i trie not to touch anything,but after seeing so many people making spottings with moths in the hands,i make a tried and for my admiration she dont feel troubled,she stay very calm in my hand :-) it was my first,very diferent of the too much fragile butteerfly's,moths are fairy,and calm,it was a great plaiser indeed :-)
