Neurothemis sp.
Female Neurothemis that has clear wings tipped with brown. Its brownish green color is completely different from the typical Neurothemis dark red color of the male, although its body pattern and markings are same as the male's. Its abdomen has three rows of black marks running from the base to the end of abdomen. Its length is about 40-45mm long. ID can be confused as a female Neurothemis terminata terminata (Ris, 1911) or a female Neurothemis fluctuans (Fabricius, 1793). Both species share the same habitat and can be seen in our area. Most of the female of these 2 species are normally clear wings. Those with dark wings are rare and can be mistaken for an immature male. However, the tea color in the female remain, unlike in the male that turns into red color as the dragonfly matures. Order: Odonata, Suborder: Anisoptera, Family: Libellulidae.
