Iris versicolor
The Blue Flag (wild Iris) is a showy plant which grows in marshes, stream borders, and other wet places. The stems are round, smooth, erect and from 2 to 3 feet tall. The flowers are violet blue and have six clawed segments which are joined together at the center to make a tube. The three outer parts are variegated with yellow and white and are beautifully veined with purple.
