Ringed neck parakeet

Psittacula krameri borealis

Description:

On an otherwise peaceful perch.... there was something disturbing today, that he had to open his eyes and stay put, since he was feeling lazy.
One was this very distinctly familiar nibbling sound and the other...? not very sure...or is there someone lurking behind on the balcony?! Whatever!...He stretched a little and moved on. He'll find another peaceful spot for preening....:)
Also known as the rose-ring necked parakeet, there are about two species found commonly in India. The other being the Indian ring necked(P. k. manillensis)

Habitat:

Most common in cultivated areas; urban areas, parks and gardens. Open country with trees, areas with palm trees, dry forest and open secondary forests. Occasional in open spaces in cities, fruit and nut orchards.
Found from west Pakistan, northern India and Nepal to central Burma; introduced populations worldwide.

Notes:

Most common birds on our rose wood and neem trees, which are a great camouflage. It is beautiful to watch them appear in groups and perch on the highest branches, as soon as it starts raining!
