Spotting

Description:

Agaric mushrooms. Caps have wax-like appearance, are very smooth, but also rigid to touch. They warp with age, and margins wrinkle. Beautiful bronze colour that changes with the light. Diameter of largest specimen approx. 10cm. Smooth stipe but looks rather 'grainy', and no visible annulus. Pale gills. Smaller specimens nearby (photo #6).

Habitat:

Found amongst the grass, leaves and weeds in my yard (I dare not call it a lawn). We had some decent rain a couple of nights ago, but all-in-all it has been very dry these past few weeks. Assuming that spores were transported with topsoil that was laid a couple of years ago.

Notes:

Found by my cat Lillie. She was playing in the garden but all of a sudden ran to this area - she's a great spotter. My cats even have their own spotting tag. PS: A mirror works wonders when trying to photograph the underside of mushrooms (photo #4).

Agaricales but not Agaricus? - no sign of ring or veil remains on top. Slight decurrence of gills. Those stipes seem to have a twist in them.
