South American Anole

Dactyloa sp

Description:

about 25cm (10") total length, note the blood sucking parasites around the eye in the second photo, not sure of the species.

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

I spotted this lizard near the base of a tree in the campground at Rio Claro reserve. It stayed fairly still and let me approach closely. I didn't even notice the blood filled parasites around the eye until I looked closely at the photos at home.
