Slender Green Orb Weaver

Araneus talipedatus

Description:

A small green spider mostly very well camouflaged against the eucalyptus leaves it lives on. The exception is the striking white and red patch on it's abdomen. This one was about 12mm long and seems to be a female.

Habitat:

On a stree planted Spotted gum (Corymbia maculata)

Notes:

An interesting comparison to another seen a few weeks ago. Note the variation in white stripe. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/385...

Totally agree, Mark. I see more wonders - and action - in the small world than one could see walking in the african savanahs. Or almost as much. Or... well, you know what I mean!

Thanks Marta. I agree. Sometimes the smallest things are the most attractive when you get down into their size world.
