Isopeda montana
Nocturnal hunter on a rough barked Eucalyptus tree in an area replanted with native trees by an oval. Throw a stone in any direction from here (the position the spider was found in) and you can be sure of hitting one of four species of Huntsman Spider
I am very surprised to find this in my backlog of images. I am not certain of the id although it looks good. This may need to have it's name revised. No mountains here! Notes to R. Whyte and R. Atkinson

Heh, I doubt myself
Excerpt from R.Whyte's reply.
You are in good territory with Isopeda as David Hirst completed some major sparassid studies including a monograph on this genus. I see the markings are very good for ID to montana but I'm also wary because he refers to the "montana group".
Looks exactly right to me but I'm no huntsman expert. I just cheer them on.
did I get another one wrong?
Its a babe! Isn't that one brown?
It's a beast !!... although I prefer the brown ones.
