These tiny little guys were swimming at the edge of the water on the beach in Crescent City California in the beautiful Pacific surf. When the water retreated they would burrow quickly into the sand and hide until the next wave crashed in. They skittered all over the place in the shallow surf. I caught this large specimen when he dove for cover. It was the only way to get them still enough to photograph before I returned him to the sea.
