Large Horse Fly, 1.5 cm long. This one is a biting blood-feeding female and must be very vicious. We had smaller Deer Flies giving us terrible bites on the legs while hiking. Family Tabanidae.
This one was just sitting on some leaves along the street into Mazunte Beach.
