Buprestid Beetle

Acmaeodera sp.

Description:

Small black and yellow beetle of the Metallic Wood Boring Family Buprestidae. This one was not metallic and only about 5 mm long.

Habitat:

Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.

Notes:

I did not find a better match. They are variable, but I think not so much to be the same as the ones from the link. Must be a different species. In my eyes the subfamily and tribe should be correct. What do you think?? I am really not sure!
