Acmaeodera sp.
Small black and yellow beetle of the Metallic Wood Boring Family Buprestidae. This one was not metallic and only about 5 mm long.
Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
Compare this one to a very similar-patterned species from the same place http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/612....
Hi bayucca, your suggestion for genus looks very good. Amazing amount of variety in color pattern for this group. Thank you so much.
Looks like Polycestinae, Acmaeoderini, Acmaeodera sp.??

I did not find a better match. They are variable, but I think not so much to be the same as the ones from the link. Must be a different species. In my eyes the subfamily and tribe should be correct. What do you think?? I am really not sure!
