Homalocladium platycladum
This plant has ribbon-like leaves that are about the same dimension. There are curious little buds or flowers spaced along the sides of the leaves. There are many leaves coming up from the plant. The leaves are about 1 inch wide. The plant was about 3 1/2 feet wide and tall.
Shade.
The whole plant was made up of ribbon leaves.

Yes, I just checked and it sure looks like a Ribbon Plant. This plant was in a private garden and probably is from PNG. I looked up the families represented here and from the list I found it doesn't grow native here, though I may be corrected on that point. Thanks Julian!
It might be Homalocladium platycladum. Kindly check for any resemblance. To see one in Madagascar is a surprise, since it's a known native of PNG and Samoa.

Magical. Those ribbon leaves are actually modified stems called cladophylls, and those buds are growing at the nodes of the stem.
That is some plant 0_0.
