Orchis italica
Orchis italica, commonly known as the naked man orchid or the Italian orchid, is a species of orchid native to the Mediterranean. It gets its common name from the lobed lip (labellum) of each flower which mimics the general shape of a naked man. It prefers partial shade and low nutrient soil and flowers in April. It was spotted near Vrinena village, Othrys mountain, Greece.

Beautiful!
Thank you so much for the nomination, dear Daniele and fellow P.N. rangers!
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated Despina!
