Treehopper

Entylia sp.

Description:

Pretty Treehopper in two tones of brown, about 5 mm in length. She is sitting on an area of a leaf stem where she has scraped the surface and is laying eggs. Almost a year later, in the very same place I found the next generation on the same plant. The last 4 pictures were taken on August 22, 2015. One is also laying her eggs along the stem of the leaf (5th picture).

Habitat:

Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, Km. 11.5.

Thank you Sckel, I think you are right about the genus. I didn't find the babies near this adult so I shouldn't say they might be the same. You are right about the spines on Entylia nymphs so I removed the connection. Thanks again.

looks like a female genus Entylia. the babies you have found are similar to bolbonota nymphs. Entylia nymphs are large and have 'thorns' in the abdomen, usually.
