orchid

Description:

absolutely stunning terrestrial orchid with breathtaking black leaves and striped flowers

Habitat:

tropical heath forest, 1000m

Notes:

The 4km stretch through tropical heath forest in Maliau basin on the way to Nepenthes camp is one of the most amazing trails I've ever hiked. Everywhere I looked were Nepenthes and orchids. Though many orchids weren't in flower, I found this amazing specimen growing close to the trial. My guide had left me at this point, he was hungry and I was too slow, so I had to spot all these orchids on my own.

Thanks StirredMocha. I was thinking Tainia too but can't find any matches yet.

Pretty sure this lovely is from the tribe Collabieae. Looks suggestive of genus Tainia but can't find any matches.
