Snouted Tiger Moth

Asota heliconia

Description:

Quite a large moth, fore wing is mostly brown and a distinct, white pattern on the center of each wing, hind wing is mostly white. The thorax, head and abdomen is yellow with some black spots. Common name is Snouted Tiger Moth but it is also used for most of the species belonging in the subfamily Aganainae.

Habitat:

Found inside the kitchen, attracted by the lights. Found from the Indo-Australian tropics east to Queensland and the Solomons.

Notes:

There are two subspecies that occur in the Philippines: A. heliconia dicta A. heliconia philippina
