Fritillaries are at a peak time in my area right now, especially Argynnis aglaja, niobe and adippe, which can be tricky to differentiate. Open areas of grass and herbs. Found here in a forest meadow.The flower is Knautia arvensis, the field scabious. Widespread across Europe from southern Spain to central Scandinavia.
