Long-legged Pipit

Anthus pallidiventris

Description:

Large pipit, a bit short of 20cm in length. Plain grey back and pale below; whitish supercilium on greyish head, very long legs. May be difficult to identify from other pipits, fortunately, there is a range...

Habitat:

Living area limited to western part of Central Africa - tropical and subtropical (Gabon, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Angola) grasslands. Here, observed on the beach, small strip of sandy land right in between shallow lagoon and Atlantic ocean.

Notes:

We stayed in an eco-lodge named Malonda Lodge; on the edge of forest and almost at the beach... Beach was dirty, and because of currents, I wouldn't swim there; but the lagoon and forest around were simply stunning and full of birds and other animals...
