Widow Underwing moth

Catocala vidua

Description:

about 1.5"

Habitat:

urban, forest, city edge

Notes:

I spotted this under the awing above my front door in the afternoon. I stood on a stool to get its photo and then I rotated them for a better view. I haven't seen a moth this large around my house in a while. The last 3 photos are with the flash.
