Asperilla

Hispidella hispanica

Description:

Small hairy plant endemic of the western half of the Iberian peninsula. Belongs to the Asteraceae family with purple stems and few leaves. The leaves, close to ground, are elongated and spatulated with a blunt point. The flowers appear in May-July and are composed. The external are yellow while the central are intensely purple. The fruits are 1mm inverted pyramids owithout a pappus.

Habitat:

Spotted at the side of a pedestrian path. Open pine tree forest in the mountains. Parque Natural de Sierra de Gredos
