Black Witch moth

Ascalapha odorata

Description:

Male Black Witch moth. This is the first time I've ever seen one in the wild. All of my sightings are in urban landscape. This one is in pretty bad shape, most likely the survivor of a bird attack. They allways appear in August. 14 cm wingspan.

Habitat:

Arid landscape.
