Stick Insects, Phasmid

Menexenus & Lonchodes

Description:

This is an interesting find, showing a Male and Female Phasmids. Although seen in the picture they are pairing, but they shouldn't be as both belongs not only to different species but to different genus! The smaller one on top is a Male of Menexenus sp and the bigger one on the bottom is a Female Lonchodes sp. Both of them belongs to the sub-family of Lonchodiodes though. Pic #2 shows the 'correct' pairing of Menexenus sp. Both species are yet to be described with their description currently being worked on.

Habitat:

High altitude tropical rain forest
