Spotting

Description:

A fairly small species of tarantula, this guy was making his way through a trail at an elevation of about 6,000 feet, and he was in no mood to be photographed, as it was quickly engaging in a defense-attack stance.

Habitat:

Found going up the Old Baldy Trail, which begins in Madera Canyon. Going up a couple of feet, it was found in the still-fairly-desert portion of the mountain, alone, and going about its business early in the morning.

Notes:

I've seen these spiders both on the trails leading to the peaks of the Coronado mountains and at ground level on the road that leads to Madera Canyon, which means they must be common to be spread out in miles. Here's the older one, found on the mentioned road: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/723...
