Northern Screamer

Description:

It is a large species of bird in the small family Anhimidae, the screamers. They are only native to Colombia and Venezuela. Their sized population in Colombia, suggests a total population of 3,000-5,000. They are listed as Near Threatened due habitat loss owing to drainage of wetlands for cattle and agriculture.

Habitat:

They inhabits lowland marshes, swamps, lagoons, the banks of slow-flowing rivers and seasonally flooded alluvial plains in north Colombia and north-west Venezuela.
