A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Panthera tigris tigris
"Brothers" - India - 2014 These young tiger brothers are on the cusp of independence; they are still living in their mother's territory that they grew up in, but will soon be venturing out on their own to establish their own territories and start their own families.
One problem that exists with many protected areas for tigers is that there is a focus on increasing tiger numbers, but not on increasing tiger habitat. Once the protected habitat area is saturated, tigers are often forced to try and establish territories outside park boundaries (which means inside villages), creating human-wildlife conflict and fatalities (on both sides). More focus needs to be put on expanding and CONNECTING tiger habitats if we want these beautiful creatures to have a long and healthy future.
