Paropsisterna varicollis?
Shiny orange, yellow, red or green leaf beetle. It has a black body and sometimes purple wings.
Found on Swamp Gums in Buxton.
They seem a bit brighter than those in the suburban parks.
Pic 4 is a different specimen with purple wings.
Pic 5 is the probable egg pattern.

These eggs do rather confuse me because the blob on the end is odd. Eggs of leaf beetles are very variable - here are two more types. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/815...
The eggs are very interesting!
Its working fine for me. I have put another copy in and will leave it there for a while until it settles down.
2 is up but still no 4!
Thanks KarenL. The program sometimes doesn't like me using all the spaces. They should work now.
Very nice! Photos 2 & 4 don't seem to have loaded properly though.
