Coragyps atratus
Large vulture found throughout Oklahoma. Black head distinguishes it from the Turkey Vulture, which sports a red head.
This individual was found nesting in a small hill made up of limestone boulders. Surrounding area is a cross-timber, oak-hickory forest. The hill is bordered by a 70 acre lake.
The nest was at ground level inside a rocky "cave" at the base of a hill.
