Strange fungus?

Description:

This strange fungus was about 6cm tall and felt quite hard.

Habitat:

It was growing in my garden amongst the zucchinis. The nearby trees include a plum, hakea, a silky oak and a variety of bushes.

Notes:

The second photo is taken two days later and the third after another couple of days.
