Chordeiles minor
The Common Nighthawk is a medium-sized crepuscular or nocturnal bird, whose presence and identity are best revealed by its vocalization. Typically dark (grey, black and brown), displaying cryptic coloration and intricate patterns, this bird becomes invisible by day. Once aerial, with its buoyant but erratic flight, this bird is most conspicuous. The most remarkable feature of this aerial insectivore is its small beak belies the massiveness of its mouth. Spotted on grounds at Tulsa Zoo, which is part of a large City park and next to a golf course.

The only reason I saw this bird was because it was sitting in a tree outside a window at work. When standing at our sink, one gets a great view out several large windows. I just happened to notice it one day, and we were treated to a return visit 3-4 days in a row (and on the same branch each time!). I went out at lunch and snapped a ton of shots while standing on a ladder nearby.
Good spot! I imagine he's pretty difficult to spot there!
