Oak Eggar (Caterpillar)

Description:

The Oak Eggar is a moth of the family Lasiocampidae. It is found throughout Europe and the British Isles. The wingspan is 45–75 mm. The females are larger than the males, while the males are more deeply colored. The larvae feed on Larix, Betula, Salix and Rubus species.

Notes:

Very hairy caterpillar, measured about 9 cm in length.
