Eye-spotted Sea Cucumber

Stichopus ocellatus

Description:

A sea cucumber with yellow, white and green colors, and two parallel lines of green spots encircled by thick white borders. Also known as Ocellated Sea Cucumber and Eyeball Sea Cucumber. They feed on plankton, and grow to a length of about 20cm.

Habitat:

Found in shallow waters on sand and rubble areas, at depths of 0 to 33m. Widespread in the West Pacific.

Notes:

Spotted this critter, which was about a foot or so long, at a depth of 70+ feet, during a day dive at San Juan Reef in the Davao Gulf. The last picture shows its underside.
