Northern Royal Flycatcher

Onychorhynchus coronatus mexicanus

Description:

A small brown bird that has a bright orange crown of feathers that is normally folded back and hidden except during courtship displays or when trying to intimidate an attacker.

Habitat:

I've only ever seen them very close to small rivers and creeks that went through wooded areas.

Notes:

A higher resolution version of the image can be found on my Flickr page.
