Humpback Whale

Megaptera novaeangliae

Description:

A pair of humpbacks that seemed to be moving out of the area and did a couple dives, only showing their flukes a couple times. I noticed some birds near them, so perhaps they were feeding. I usually see birds around when whales are feeding, hoping to get some food of their own that the whales have stirred up.

Habitat:

Close to Afognak Island. This bay seemed to be a popular site for whales, as we also saw Fin Whales not too far away.
