Polites peckius
The Peck’s Skipper, a grass skipper, is commonly found in urban areas, more often than other skippers, and can easily be distinguished by its blotchy gold hindwing pattern.
Canada - Northern U.S. except the west coast. Meadows, prairies, woodland edges, lawns, marshes, landfills, roadsides. June - September. Host Plants: Rice cutgrass (Leersia oryzoides), bluegrass (Poa pratensis), other grasses.
Observed on Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)
