Common throughout the United States. Males chirp about 30 times a minute to attract a female. Makes home in the ground and tall grass. Provides beneficial services to the ecosystem by eating eggs and pupae of insects that are considered pests

Habitat:

There were lots of these field crickets on a sandy soil path in a pine forest. Fresh pond, Delaware Seashore State Park, Bethany Brach Delaware
