Spotting

Description:

For spotting #3200 I choose this bizarre growth, about 1cm wide, I spotted on a leaf. I've never seen anything like it, not sure what it is, new plantlet? insect gall? eggs?

Habitat:

rainforest, 1000m

Notes:

Spotted in Gunung Merapi national park.

Thanks Sukanya and Jolly. If you have any spottings with examples Jolly, I'd love to see them.

Dan, I'm also inclined that it is a plantlet because it grew after the broken part of the leaf. We have a few other plants here that exhibit this characteristic.

Very pretty. Very interesting. Very intriguing. A bit bizarre. Totally love it...whatever it is! :)

My name is guess, guess what... ;-)...
Only a very shy guess from my not-really-much-about-flora-part...

Thanks bayucca for chiming in. I just showed it to a fellow horticulturist friend. She's not sure but she was thinking maybe a new plantlet, growing on the main vein, because the leaf is broken and nearly disconnected, it may be starting a new growth, but again, its only a guess.

My guess would be gall, maybe mites??
