That was a very tricky one. Definitely a Chlosyne sp./Checkerspot. I don't think it is the most common and variable one: Theona. If you look at the size of the spots on the hindwing: In your the yellow and "creamy" one are about the same size. In most of Chlosyne there are longer white ones than yellow ones. The one which fits quite fine is in my eyes: an older/worn Chlosyne definita and most probably Chlosyne definita anastasia from Central Mexico:
