Colluricincla harmonica
About 22 - 26 cm long, this bird was all grey, darker on the head and wings with a paler belly. Shoulders seemed to have tinges of red. Some white seen at the base of a black bill.
Spotted in a nature reserve. Dry sclerophyll forest.
This bird ( ? male) was flying around tree tops and branches calling out. It had a beautiful repetitive call and I followed it out from amongst the trees to a clearing. I noticed that it had a mouthful of food. Closer inspection revealed a frog in its mouth- probably a tree frog. There is no stream, lake or marsh land anywhere near by.
You might be able to hear its call here

It has numerous common names
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Pachycephalidae

Photo No. 1: is a beautiful photo....
Thanks Charlie. Best I could do with my pocket camera. I am just glad he was a relatively big bird that decided to stop on a clear branch. Felt a little sorry for the frog - they are such cuties.
Wow ..great spotting , he certainly got his dose of proteins for the day :)
