Valley Gartersnake

Thamnophis sirtalis fitchi

Description:

Non venomous
Long slender snake with Dorsal stripe is wide almost white to a yellowish color and also along the bottom of each side. The dark stripes between dorsal and lateral stripes with red markings the lower dark row and alternating with dark markings.The top of head is dark gray and lighter below. Sometimes some red will show on the face. Eyes are larger then some other Gartersnakes. Active during daylight and can be found near water so it can make a quick escape.

Habitat:

This one was found near rice ponds.

Notes:

Spotted near my foot in a still state so we didn't notice it. Was not alarmed by us.
