Golden Eagle

Aquila chrysaetos

Description:

Large, mostly brown bird with white band on the tail. Lifer for me, and had a pair show up! The last photo shows the eagle with a northern harrier that was harassing it, and you can really see how massive the eagle is!

Habitat:

Flying over a lake in a short grass prairie at Muleshoe NWR.

An incredible bird! Great flight shots btw Ashley! Native American people used the tail feathers of the juvenile Golden Eagle in their war bonnets.
