Checkered Beetle

Family: Cleridae

Description:

This metallic blue clerid beetle was about 8 mm long. Head, thorax and elytra were all blue. Body covered with stiff short setae. Legs had slightly thick femurs and were reddish-brown. antennae beaded.

Habitat:

Spotted on broom tea-tree ( Leptospermum scoparium) in a park.

Notes:

I believe this is a clerid beetle. Have not found any matches and so no ID.
