Tropidoderus childrenii
This medium sized stick insect was a beautiful yellowish-green with tinges of pinkish-red. Sides of the thorax had white markings. The wings folded over the body stopped short of the last few abdominal segments.
Eyes were pale on a narrow head. The whole insect looked like a narrow branch of a colourful bamboo.
Spotted under bright lights in a car yard. This one was clinging to a car bumper.
Females are thicker and green. They do not fly as well as the males and depend on camouflage to escape predators.
