Description:

Wingspan about 50mm. Upperside - Forewing tips are dark brown with white markings. A medial orange band separates the tips from the light brown base. The hindwing is light brown at the base and dark brown at the anterior margin. Underside - The wings are marbled black and brown with a white spot near the center of the anterior margin of the hind wing. An orange bandwith a row of four black dots runs along the posterior margin. The body is light brown. Antennal clubs are black, tipped with white.

Very common this time of year. There were at least three sunning themselves on the front of my house most of the afternoon. Both photos are of the same individual. At first, wings were closed. I took a few shots and then gave it a nudge with my finger. It opened right up for me.
