Sphyrapicus varius
This yellow-bellied sapsucker spent the whole time in this berry tree hanging upside down from his feet. Awesome! It really does have a yellow belly. It is a woodpecker and found in North America. This is a male with the red throat. Females have a white throat.
The breeding habitat of the yellow-bellied sapsucker is forested areas across Canada, eastern Alaska and the northeastern United States. They prefer young, mainly deciduous forests. There is also a population found in high elevations of the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. This spotting of the yellow-bellied sapsucker was in a berry tree right outside the visitor center at Magnolia Springs State Park in Millen, Georgia
