Larus delawarensis

Description:

This spotting is the winter look of the ring-billed gull or non-breeding adult. It is a white bird with gray wings, about 19 inches (48 cm) in size. Yellow bill with black ring near tip. Yellowish legs and feet. The adult in non-breeding or winter plumage has brown streaking on its head. The Ring-billed Gull takes three years to reach maturity.

Habitat:

These ring-billed gulls are not afraid of humans. You can find them in parking lots, garbage dumps, beaches, and fields, sometimes by the hundreds. These are the gulls you're most likely to see far away from coastal areas. This particular ring-billed gull was sitting on a post at a boat dock at Crooked River State Park, St Marys Georgia.
