Amanita (with yellow ring)

Amanita luteolovelata

Description:

This amanita was a moderately large one with a dome-shaped grey cap covered with patches of yellow and scales in the young cap - seemed to have disappeared in the older cap. This fruiting body showed a yellow partial veil still covering the gills, as cna be seen in pics 3 & 4. In more mature caps the veil would have broken off to appear as a thin yellow annulus around a pale yellow stipe. This yellow ring is a distinguishing feature for this amanita. Gills were white and crowded. Spore print was white.

Habitat:

Spotted growing under eucalyptus trees in leaf litter.
